Val Walton loves adventure and challenges. She skydived, traveled to New York, London and Mexico alone and completed the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.
A graduate of the University of Alabama, Val worked as a newspaper reporter in Maryland, Pennsylvania and in Indianapolis before returning to her home state of Alabama in 1994.
In September 2012, she took on another challenge. She traded her 24-year career as a journalist to become communications director for the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama.
Val is constantly with her iPhone so she can tweet and post to Facebook the latest happenings in economic development, innovation and entrepreneurship. She is active in her church, Greater Shiloh, and she enjoys reading, running and encouraging single women to live life to the fullest now. She lives in Birmingham’s eclectic Crestwood neighborhood and has a collection of Vogue magazines.
