Startup Competition

Alabama Launchpad promotes and rewards high-growth, innovative start-ups from across Alabama. The program is for new, innovative ventures in the seed or early-growth stages, or for existing businesses moving into a new high-growth market. Participants have unique opportunities to access sound business advice and critical start-up capital. Alabama Launchpad gives early-stage start-ups momentum to take an idea from concept to reality.

The proof of commercial relevance competition is for start-ups that need additional proof-of-concept work. Start-ups will compete for multiple proof-of-concept grants. Individual awards based on budgets submitted.

Competition GraphicApplication Phase

Teams interested in competing in the startup competition must apply and be accepted into the cycle during the open application period for each cycle. To apply teams, must have a free FluidReview account and complete all of the required steps. The judges panel for each cycle reviews the submitted applications and required attachments and determines, which teams will be admitted to compete. Pitch Phase

Teams accepted into the competition advance to the Pitch Phase. During the Pitch Phase teams submit a full business plan and make a 10 minute pitch presentation before the the judges panel at a live pitch event. At the conclusion of the pitch event, the teams advancing to the Assessment Phase are announced. All pitch events take place in Birmingham, see calendar for exact time and location details.

Assessment Phase

Teams that advance following the pitch presentation will submit a revised business plan for a market assessment by a third party. Each team receives a copy of the their assessment valued at $2,000. During the finale phase teams are asked to incorporate into their final business plan and pitch presentation, how they plan to incorporate the assessment feedback into their business model.

Finale Phase

Following the assessment phase each team advances to the Finale Phase and submits a final version of their business plan via FluidReview. Finalists will present a 10 minute pitch at our finale event where winners will be announced.
