Startup Competition

Alabama Launchpad, a program of the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, promotes and rewards high-growth, innovative startups from across Alabama. Alabama Launchpad is for new, innovative ventures in the seed or early-growth stages, or for existing businesses moving into a new high-growth market. Participants have unique opportunities to access sound business advice and critical startup capital. Alabama Launchpad gives early-stage startups momentum to take an idea from concept to reality.

The startup competition is for startups that need additional capital to launch or scale their business. Startups will compete for multiple cash grants. Individual awards are based on funded milestones submitted through the project budget required during the application phase.

Competition GraphicApplication Phase

Teams interested in competing in the startup competition must apply and be accepted into the cycle during the open application period for each cycle. To apply teams, must have a free YouNoodle account and complete all of the required steps. The judges panel for each cycle reviews the submitted applications and required attachments and determines, which teams will be admitted to compete. Pitch Phase

Teams accepted into the competition advance to the Pitch Phase. During the Pitch Phase teams submit a full business plan and make an 8 minute pitch presentation before the the judges panel at a live pitch event. At the conclusion of the pitch event, the teams advancing to the Finale Phase are announced. All pitch events take place in Birmingham, see calendar for exact time and location details.

Finale Phase

Teams that advance following the pitch presentation will submit a revised business plan for a market assessment by a third party. Each team receives a copy of the their assessment valued at $2,000. Finalists are asked to incorporate into their final business plan and pitch presentation, how they plan to incorporate the assessment feedback into their business plan.

The Finale Phase culminates in a live pitch presentation where the winners will be announced.
